A “Choose Your Own Adventure” weekend dedicated to the exploration of dance!

COMPASS

May 21-24th, 2026 in Rochester, NY

THEME

"Compass" refers to finding your own path and creating your own adventure. This journey will be warm and cozy. We will provide the map - you will be your guide.

We will have opportunities to boldly traverse edges and tenderly unearth new footpaths through explorations of four key facets we are already in conversation with in our dancing. Throughout our travels, we will tune in to the four elements: Earth, Air, Fire, and Water.

The facets of dance we will explore and their corresponding elements:

Inviting ourselves to dance (Fire)
Connecting with the ground (Earth)
Engaging deeply with music (Air)
Co-creating dance with a partner (Water)

Our daytime classes will each explore one or more of these ideas, and will come from a wide variety of teachers, styles, and cultures. At the social dances in the evenings, sets from our talented DJs will also refer to these ideas, and will allow for deeper explorations of the paths you have chosen to travel. We will also do fun outdoor adventure related activities, like: themes for having fun dressing up each night; tokens you can earn as you take classes and attend the social dances; a nightly "campfire" where we will perform and weave a few tales for one another; and everyone's favorite, s'mores!

ACCESS AND SAFETY

All of our main venues are ADA compliant.
We will have an access team on duty throughout the weekend.
We will have clear community guidelines and policies that everyone will have access to and will have the opportunity to review during registration.

HOUSING AND TRANSPORTATION

We plan to offer help connecting you to others you can travel with, room with, carpool with locally, etc.! Look out for more info, but know that if you need help, we will be here for you!

Thursday Evening - Joining forces with another local dance scene!

Friday Daytime - Nature walks / exploring local parks / outdoor brunch

DAYTIME CLASSES

Saturday 1:30pm - 6pm (5 classes)
Sunday 1:30pm -6pm (5 classes)

**Two beautiful dance studios with hardwood floors - located one floor apart in the same building (both stair and elevator access)
**Ten unique classes to choose from

EVENING SOCIAL DANCES

….. at Artisan Works

Friday 6:30pm - 1:30am
--- All Levels Dance class @6:30pm, Dance starts @8pm
Saturday 8pm - 3am
Sunday 8pm - 1:30am

**We will dance in an INCREDIBLE eclectic and artistic space to fully transport us to another world
**Ten unique DJed sets over three nights, playing with themes of the four elements
**Nightly performances at our "Campfires" from a mix of staff and attendees (anyone can submit an application to perform! Stay tuned for more info)

We will have multiple options for you to choose from, whether you want to attend a few classes, just the social dances, or a mix!

FULL event passes (access to classes and all three evening dances)

For our full-event passes, we will have tiered pricing for you to both support and be supported within our community. You will be able to choose a tier based on what you can give, or based on your need.
